Thanks to forums and discussion boards, you can leave a comment or start a discussion thread about virtually any topic from anywhere in the world. And yes, you can even leave comments to drive traffic to your blog and increase your readership.

Leaving effective comments

You’re probably old enough to know that not every comment that gets thrown into an opportunity for interaction creates the desired effect, much less become appreciated by those who hear or read it. If you don’t use this technique carefully, you will either waste the opportunity or simply allow it to create the wrong impression. Here are 7 ways you ought to do it: (more…)

Five Drawbacks Of Earning Money By Blogging

If you think you have the skill to write blogs that can attract the interest of readers, then set up a blog. And then start making money out of it. Some people think the moneymaking part is some form of desecration of what blogging ought to be. But most writers have been more liberal and practical in the ways they go.

After all, blogging for money is just like being paid for any regular job except, of course, that you own your time and business and you’re not held responsible to anyone but yourself. Your readers are your bosses but, then again, you need not file reports and comply with freakish deadlines. When you blog, it’s just you, your reader, and what you put in between so each of you could have a fuller experience of each other as your blog lives on. (more…)

Blogging Pitfalls Part Two

As promised today we are going to discuss the setup and layout of your blog.

Again, this is a mistake I made when I first started this blog. Even though I have been an internet marketer for over 10 years, I did not have a clue about blogging when I started therefor I made many mistakes. I ended up making several changes to the theme and layout and still do occasionally. Unfortunately, sometimes when there are Wordpress updates you may find that your chosen theme no longer works and you are forced to find a new one. Keep this in mind.

The major thing when starting a blog is to scour the internet and find a nice, clean theme. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of Wordpress themes available for free or you could purchase a theme if you choose. Just do a search for free Wordpress themes and you will see what I mean.

Obviously, this does not count if you are using Wordpress.com or Blogger or any of the other free blogging platforms available. Unfortunately, you are only allowed to do so much with those platforms which is why I always recommend getting your own domain when blogging for business.

The main thing is not to use the default themes as this will make your blog look like every other amateur blog on the web. You want to define your style and your personality in your blog. (more…)
